The Weather Girls - It's Raining Men

This last picture is a composite of two screen captures from the 1990 song Everybody Everybody.
They obviously had a lot of fun making this classic 80's music video. These video captures show only a few of many scary moments from It's Raining Men. You would never see this kind of video being produced now. Music videos of recent years are mainly generic, highly polished and bland. Few really entertain their audiences.

If you are not convinced, consider that one of the lead singers of the Weather Girls - Martha Wash (pictured left) was also the vocals behind Black Box's 1990 hit Everybody Everybody. In the video clip, they dropped in a pretty young thing in her place. This, according to Steve Huey at the All Music Guide, resulted in a court case. eighty-eightynine has observed the occasional small disclaimer in the Blackbox clip which has words to the effect 'People in this clip may not be vocalists'. Two selected screen shots of Everybody Everybody everybody can be found at the bottom of the left column. Martha was also the vocalist in Gonna Make You Sweat (Everybody Dance Now) by C&C music factory.

Overall, the video for It's Raining Men is typical of 1984 - many sequences are repeated and there are only a few hastily constructed sets. Some really crap effects and poor props round off the package. However, this would have to rank as one of the most amusing videos to come out of the 80's.

This clip really needs to be seen to be appreciated - it is a jaw-dropper.
